Beautifully Angry

Since this episode was published, we have received so many encouraging emails about how people never thought about ANGER in a positive way. It always seems to have such a negative connotation... Certainly anger can quickly take situations and escalate them to unhealthy places, but the raw emotion is just that - an emotion. It can trigger us to action and light a fire that inspires.

In our episode, it was really helpful for me to unpack how anger is like a fire. Fire, when controlled, can be used for so many great things! - from cooking to internal combustion for our cars. It can also rage uncontrollably and cause catastrophic destruction.

Anger is the same. It can lead to uncontrolled and regretful moments. On the flip side, when controlled, anger can truly lead to change. There’s a reason we feel anger, and it’s our emotional response to something that’s not right. HOW we use this response is what’s important. Can we take that energy to truly bring change? Or will we let it overtake us to a point that a productive shift is not possible. Sometimes it’s our own house that can be burned in the process…

As I’ve realized the power of anger, it has become the fuel for my passions. I believe that there is so much good that is to come! Through business, through our relationships, and through dreaming of what can be, anger has become the driving force for my work. It keeps me going when days are long and hard, as well when the days that are relatively calm. I’m certainly not perfect, and there are days when I can let the fire get out of control, but overall, the anger within me is like a warm fire filling my heart.

My hope is that all of us tap into our anger and fire just a little more. Because I believe that through healthy anger, we can make the world a better place!
